Charm with Best Bloom
THE KAKI-ENGEI July 15th, 2012
“Lily Festa 2012 in Nakamura-Noen” was held at Nakamura-Noen in Kochi City from June 6th to the 10th. In this event 473 varieties of lilies were in bloom at a same time, and this is one of the biggest lily exhibitions in Japan.
Their aim of this event is to give good opportunities of variety selection, marketing, and exchanging opinions between visitors.
Through the 5 days, 1,022 business-relevant people and 4,241 general people visited Lily Festa. Nakamura-Noen made 3 meters high “Lily Tower” for the first time, which was made of 600 cut flowers of 100 varieties.
The result of questionnaires which the visitors answered showed that OT varieties were popular among flower growers and auction people, while florists liked Asiatics more. Signum, Table Dance, Tarrango were in the high ranking as well.
Mr. Teru Nakamura of Nakamura-Noen analyzes the result that “Oriental varieties had been most popular in Japan, but now OT varieties have been developed and there are more Oriental-like varieties than before.”
The demand for Lily does not decline much compared to other flowers and there is strong popularity. However, he says “Markets always want new and variable products. We will keep on sending useful information to our customers through our growing test.”
