We would like to report about the situation with sending the stock list of SH crop 07’.
○ The general situation
We have delayed to send stock list SH 07’, because of unstable Dutch market with bad result of crop 06. (First publishing of SH 06’ was on November 4th)
Comparing with the same time of last year, the exchange rate quite changed to low Japanese yen . (while Japan was at a disadvantage), in the price negotiation, we haggled to production companies & exporters to make price in Yen lower than SH crop 06’.
Oriental NL crop 06’ is expected shortage, and SH bulb is worth using as alternative for Dutch cut flower forcers etc., so demand seems to be increasing.
☆ Summary of SH bulbs in Japan
SH crop 06’ imported to Japan about 21.5-22.5 millions (Oriental of NL is about 90 millions). We handled about 7.9 millions, and we expect crop 07’ will little increase. According to exporters etc., number of SH crop 07’ to Japan will be same or little decrease from this year.
☆ Our purchasing
Most our customer in west Japan produce high quality lilies under the comparatively stable winter climate which is long-term growth. But it costs a lot for quite high rising fuel to grow.
In this situation, the cut flower quality is very important to make profit and it’s required to select right variety, production country and size which is suitable for cut flower schedule (= planting schedule). We tried to make purchasing according to customer’s needs. But production of individual varieties in SH is not enough, so we request you make scheme in early, and secure your bulb in order.
Already popular size is sold out at production side (Sorbonne CH18-20, Siberia NZ16-18, Rialto NZ18-20, Constanta NZ18-20 etc.), and many varieties are only in our stock. Please keep attention to ★-mark in the stock list.
☆Regarding cooling charge of SH bulbs
We would like to charge 200 yen per month from December delivery. (We have received many compliments for the service from customers, which is rather big merit.)
☆ Advantage by the number of bulbs we deal
1. We can cut costs by quantity, but more than that,…
2. We think quantity makes more improvement of the import schedule and accuracy of temperature control on board. If deal were small, we need to delay the shipment of bulbs which is already prepared and ready, until filling up one container with other late items, and also varieties in the difference temperature treatment can be loaded together (in the same temperature).
3. In other case, if we concentrate purchasing on stock from a particular production for the efficient transport, dealing assortment would be limited, and if less enlargement or quality problem etc. happened, we will get the shortage and influence directly, and our delivery will be very unstable. We think reason we could manage the shortage lower is by researching information in all the productions, and we could split risk.
But the most important thing is quality!! We considered the past result and customer’s opinion, and we avoid handling particular varieties and lots from production have problems. We will visit Chile and New Zealand to research fields in January and June, and we would like to check there strictly.
☆ Checking lots in our test growing greenhouse
We are doing the test growing of major varieties each lots of SH crop 06’ (number of them is 76 lots)[We have already planted in 19th and 20th of December]. The test growing of both Chile and NZ bulbs together is quite rare in the world. Some varieties may have different result from potential by influence of the planting season, but we can watch the characteristic in the same condition, and we expect that we can analyze more suitable delivery for each planting time.
