We have got it recently. Before we will make a total Japanese version, I would like to inform major variety’s extract and short explanations in the following, it is mainly based on a comment of P.F.Onings. Roughly speaking, “It is not surprising, but in expectation.”
(The number inside brackets is an acreage fluctuation of sellable sized field.)
1.Oriental (-4%) OT(+10%)
It is generally in expectation. The less popular varieties decreased, like Simplon, Willeke Alberti and Lombardia etc. The promissing varieties increased, like Nova Zembla, Rialto, Robina and Manissa etc. And adjustment among varieties is going.
2.Asiatic (+1%)
The total acreage was in expectation, but if it decreased more, we would be more relaxed…it is a frank feeling of Dutch side. Now Mona is a very rare variety!!
3.LA(+24%)
We expected a tendency of increase, but the increase of Litouwen, Advantage, Birgi, Pavia and etc. were too much and too sudden. And the mood of total situation of LA is not good.
4.Longi-florum (-36%)
The Dutch production decreased greatly, but French production (it’s popular with Dutch forcers) increased, so total acreage in two countries seems to not decrease so dramatically. Of course, only Dutch bulbs can export to Japan, though, market situation seems to be stable?
5.Other factors for market situation, except the production acreage of NL crop ’07
(1) This year’s NL crop ’06 stock is much less than last year, and the shipping to China is also fine.
They have had additional demands, it is very nice.
(2) Now harvest of SH crop ’07 is going, crop result in Chile seems to be worse than we expected, (Sorry for Chile!!) it will take some good influences to the market.
Because of those situations, the total market mood seems to become better than before.
Anyhow, this announcement of the statistic will not be a very bad factor for the market (Especially for Orientals).
On the other hand, the scales acreage is 10% less than last year, furthermore, compare with 2000 it decreased nearly 200 ha, it must express the grower’s worry.
