From Dutch flower magazine “Flower TECH” volume 10 No.7, 2007
The Netherlands-Members of Dutch flower auctions FloraHolland and Aalsmeer voted with a large majority in favour of the merge between the two auctions. The election took place on the 19th of September, at the auctions’ annual meetings, which was held at the same time. For the merge, which will come into force on the 1st of January 2008, a two-thirds majority of the votes was needed. With 85% of the votes in favour in Aalsmeer and 79% at FloraHolland, this was easily achieved.
In Aalsmeer, 50% of the total value of the votes took place at the election and 41% at Floraholland. The value of a vote of each member depends on the auction turn-over. The total disclosed shows that there were a lot of members who did not vote; but compared to other annual meetings the attendance was high.
The atmosphere at both meetings was calm and positive. At Aalsmeer some members took the floor to express their objections against the merge, while some argued in favour of the merge. At FloraHolland there were only positive responses from members who took the floor. By giving their votes, members supported the goals of the auction board and management to strengthen their market places. According to them it is more efficient to work together. The merged auction wants to attract more flowers and plants, also from abroad, to build a stronger market place.
Notes:
Annual amount of dealing in flower auction is about 6 billions in Japan and Holland. Only one auction (it will be like agricultural association) deals with them in Holland from next year, on the other hand, about 200 auctions in Japan.
Built in 2015 in order to quality checking of commercial bulbs.
Style of greenhouse is similar to customer ordinary have, which planting in soil and give result practically.
For the improve of bulb quality and stability, experience at here is exchanged with bulb growers.
Training facility
It equip cooling room for pre-rooting and packing space for flower, which optimum to provide educations to trainee aiming to cut flower grower.
Test greenhouse
We opened it in 2007. It covers an area of 2390 square meters. There is greenhouse ; acreage is 1630 square meters with 6 independent rooms, Venlo type; so-called “Dutch right style” in Japan, also, cool-ware, warehouse, experimental room too.
New bed system in our test greenhouse
We put “Super drain bed 85” developed by Japan Agricultural Assn (Zennou) as the planting bed in our test greenhouse. So, when we give steam disinfection not to all of the field but only to beds, it saves time and cost a lot. We manage the test growing by computer; irrigation, fertilizer, temperature, ,shading, open and close the windows, heating, cooling by mist, ventilation-fans, etc.
Our test greenhouse is one of the biggest greenhouses of importers in Japan, we test many subjects there and give many suggestions and information to flower growers every year.
Self generator of electric power
In case of emergency, even if the power station cannot supply electric power we can generate the power by this machine by ourselves and can work our wares.
Crushing machine of empty crates
To crush the empty crates to make them small chips. Then we can recycle them as plastic materials. There is a machine underground to lower the noise.
Big bath
Usually we work it to give domestic grown longiflorum “Hinomoto” hot water or running water treatment to break dormancy.
Quarantine green house
In the cooperation with hybridizing company, we conduct special test for number varieties before commercialized. It equip 2 electric heating machine.
This is one of the earliest test of Dutch new crop, which is note by bulb growers in the world.
Picture of other cool ware
We have total 5 cool warehouses, where we can keep up to more than 60,000 cases.
Also we put solar panels on the roof of this ware on Oct.2009 too.
cool-warm ware
We built new cool-warm ware in 2009. It covers an area of 1356 square meters. It has three freezing rooms to keep the 25,000 cases of bulbs in very strict suitable temperature and humidity condition, without strong wind in the rooms to protect dryness.
Cold chain
In the temperature controlled front wide path-room, we carry the trucks and containers into the facility, which provide loading and unloading in the summer safely.
Facility for defrosting
We have two rooms and one building for defrosting, they can keep cool and warm. In winter, we keep the temperature warmer to defrost in good condition.
Solar generating system
We put the solar panels, on the roof of 4 our buildings. They can generate Max.242KW by sunshine, to supply most of necessary power to use in daytime.
Solar panel also shade the whole roofs to prevent facility heated up.
Altogether management cost of cooling warehouses are much controlled, and part of cost reduce is distributed as deduction of cooling charge for customers.
