Our MAF announced statistic of wholesale markets of flowers in 2008 on June 18th.　

　　

According to it,
Number of stems of cut flowers was 2% less, sales amount was 8% less than in 2007. Number of pot plants was 4% less, sales amount was 9% less.
Total sales of cut flowers and pot plants was 425.9 billion yen( 3.15billion Euro), it was about 8% less.　

CUT FLOWERS
Number of stems of cut flowers was 5.7 billion, 2% less. Number of chrysanthemum was almost same, but roses decreased. Total sales was 3.1
billion yen (23 billion Euro), 8% less, it depend on mainly decrease of total sales of mum and rose.
Imported carnation and lily increased, in rate of them, mum is biggest(30%)
rose and lily are second(9%).

Lily
Number was 186.8 million, 2% more !!
Sales is 27.7 billion yen(205 million Euro), 6% less. Average price was 144yen, 8% less.
Imported lily was 7.7 million, 23% more. Sales was 734 million yen(5.4 million Euro), 6% more.
Longi. was 36 million, same. Sales was 3.1 billion yen(23 million Euro), 12% less.

POT PLANT
Number of pots is 279 million, 4% less. It depends on mainly decrease of
foliage plant and cactus.
Total sales is 90.8 billion yen(672 million Euro), 9% less. It depends on main-
ly decrease of foliage plant and cactus.

GARDEN PLANT
Number was 439 million, 3% less. Pansy increased but Marrygold decreased.
Total sales 23.9 billion yen(177 million Euro), 8% less. It depends on mainly
pansy.
